The Kimmel Center For The Performing Arts

About The Kimmel Center

Kimmel Center is a dynamic performing arts center serving the greater Philadelphia area. This not-for-profit organization builds exciting artistic collaborations with resident companies and regional arts organizations that make Philadelphia a destination for art enthusiasts around the world. The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts includes Verizon Hall, Perelman Theater, Innovation Studio and the Merck Arts Education Center. Plus it operates the Academy of Music, owned by The Philadelphia Orchestra. As part of its mission, Kimmel Center provides arts education and community outreach programming to serve a broad and diverse audience.

The Challenge

The Kimmel Center's subscription brochure is one of the organization's most important communications pieces of the year for creating consumer and brand awareness. They need to draw more than a million people to the Kimmel Center and the Academy of Music annually to experience the performing arts, so printed materials must be vibrant and inviting. They were looking for a printer that could deliver top-quality results, along with exceptional service and reliability, at competitive prices.

The Solution

Because The Kimmel Center's promotional pieces generally call for fairly heavy ink coverage, and include a lot of faces, getting the color accurate and rich looking was important. A little too much yellow in the run and faces can look jaundiced. Careful attention to color correction during prepress and High Definition Printing™ led to superior quality results. Intelligencer also handled the mailing of the subscription brochures through Intelligencer Mailing and Fulfillment Services (IMFS). We used fugitive glue instead of wafer sealing to close the multi-page piece, resulting in a much more elegant solution.

The Result

"I've had materials printed with other vendors who use the latest technological advances, yet the job can still look poor. If no one is paying attention to the job, if prepress isn't careful, or there's no quality control on press, all the technology in the world won't make it look good. Intell has been printing our Showcase program books for several years now, and they never miss a beat."
