Temple University

About Temple

Temple University is one of the most socially and ethnically diverse campuses in America. But as you might suspect—especially since the school's mascot is a spirited owl—this urban Philadelphia institution also has a strong commitment to the environment. That includes using recycled papers and environmentally friendly printing processes.

The Challenges

When Temple decided to print a dynamic new undergraduate admissions piece to replace its traditional view book, selecting a printer with an active commitment to the environment was a must. Temple wanted to capture the youthful, urban energy of life on the campus—to give prospective student a chance to see, feel and experience the hip, diverse, vibrant atmosphere that defines the university. But they also wanted the piece to reflect their environmental values.

The Solution

Intelligencer suggested that Temple use our Renew Bio-based LOW VOC Ink to help reduce emissions, minimize waste, and lower the cost and complexity of hazardous waste disposal and management. Temple specified Utopia 1X Green for stock, not only because of its printability and post-consumer-waste content, but because it was readily available in the size needed for this project.

The Result

"We've printed very similar pieces with Intelligencer in past years, and this was the best result to date. It's hard to say whether that should be attributed to Intelligencer's exceptional prepress ability, superior pressmen, the Renew inks, or improved Utopia paper, but there is no question in my mind that the print results were outstanding."
